We are recruiting to fill the following position:

Job Title: Well Engineer, Cementing

Responsibilities
  • Ensure suitable,non-damaging and cost effective drilling/completion fluids are designed and programmed.
  • Evaluate proposals from vendors for introduction of new systems and products into our operations.
  • Follow up/monitor to highlight and technically evaluate problem areas for improvement in cost effectiveness of drilling fluids.
  • Resolution of problems beyond the immediate capacity of the mud consultants involved in the day to day monitoring of drilling fluids performance.
  • Introduce new fluids technologies in for extended reach horizontal,multi-lateral and HPHT wells.
  • Review and update of SPDC drilling/completion fluids and cementing standards,whenever necessary.
  • Participate actively in the preparation and award of drilling/completion fluids contracts.
  • Work ahead of HSE legislation to develop mud systems that comply with existing and pending legislation.
  • Continually explore effective and economic ways of increasing use of local products in our contracts.
  • Work with Environmental and Waste Management Departments to ensure that current practices meet regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • University degree in Engineering or the Sciences.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in the oil industry especially in Well Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge in well planning, well design and programming, drilling/completion fluids chemistry, borehole stability and failure mechanisms.

Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate a high commitment to HSE thereby actively promoting and contributing to Goal Zero,12 Life Saving Rules,DROPS and use of Safety Tools (STOP,TRIC,PTW).
  • Ensure that Completion activities are carried out in accordance with the company HSEMS and HSE policies and standards.
  • Manage and maintain well integrity for the asset by planning and executing routine well integrity maintenance in line with current approved group standards and procedures.
  • Ensures that all resultant corrective maintenance activities are carried out in line company standards/procedures.
  • Provides technical advice on process safety contingencies in completion operations.
  • Manage CWI workshop,including testing,maintenance and storage of Company equipment and materials.
  • Manage the interface with Asset Development,Assets and Engineering Teams.
  • Coordinate service contractors to ensure that high quality services are provided in accordance with their respective contracts.
  • Liaises with the Community Relation Officers to work out strategies with the host communities to minimise disruption of activities in Well completion operations.
  • Manage the progress of work on well completion & relates critical issues to the Team Leader for resolution and directives.
  • Supervise staff assigned to his team including the onsite Completion Supervisors.
  • Coordinate logistics and expedites materials and equipment to his units.
  • Manage the preparation of economic analysis for decision making in a problem well.
  • Manages all contractor services to ensure that high quality services are provided in accordance with their respective contracts.
  • Drives the full implementation of the rDTL (revitalized Delivering the Limit) process during well completion program execution,thus optimising the operational and technical performance of Well Intervention and contractors under his custody.
  • Promotes rDTL (revitalized Delivering the Limit) working culture among the well site team to continuously improve historical performance year on year.
  • Visits Well Intervention companies and contractors to discuss and source equipment and services related to his job.
  • Promotes inclusion of relevant new technology procedures and equipment in well completion activities.
  • Provides feedback in the R&D trial and improvement loop of new technology.
  • Ensure that all well site activities are carried out in conformity with SPDC’s Health,Safety,Environment & Security Policies and in accordance with Quality management principles.
  • Monitor the HSE,operational,commercial & technical performance of the units and contractors under his control,measure the quality of the products and services and formulate routes for improvement.
  • Manage compliance with relevant systems & procedures for executing Completion activities.
Requirements:
  • A professional engineer in possession of a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
  • A minimum of 7 years experience in Well Completion Engineering with 2 years as a Field Supervisor.
  • Good supervisory skills, with sound knowledge of well control techniques and well completion operations practices
  • Good analytical, communication and writing skills, with PC fluency and familiarity with well engineering software.
  • Proficient in English language, both in speech and in writing.
  • In possession of valid WIPC certificates.

  • Assist the Regional Discipline Lead for Process Engineering in providing technical and assurance governance support to operations,Assets and projects through peer -assisted reviews,independent design reviews,Value Assurance Reviews,HAZOP,etc.
  • To provide process engineering advice and steers via participation of peer-assisted reviews,Independent Design Reviews,Value Assurance Reviews,HAZOP,etc to assure projects design implementation are in compliance with relevant standards.

  • To provide technical support to operation assets to assure operations are within operating envelope and in compliance with applicable standards.

Requirements
  • Chemical Engineering Degree BSc or MSc or its equivalent and a minimum of 10 years experience in process engineering practice in the exploration and production (upstream) of oil and gas industry.
  • Demonstratable experience in conceptual or front end, detailed design, operation and optimisation of oil and gas treatment facilities with a broad exposure to all aspects of process engineering including pipeline hydraulics, flow assurance, process control and safeguarding.
  • Had a good working knowledge of reservoir engineering, production technology and well engineering.
  • A good understanding of complimentary surface engineering disciplines - mechanical, control automation,pipeline, electrical etc.

Job Title: Senior Subsea Operations Engineer

Location:
Lagos

Responsibilities
  • To support the delivery of Subsea Systems Surveillance & Integrity Assurance into the portfolio of Shell Nigeria Deepwater projects,ensuring that subsea systems operations and maintenance (including HSE) requirements are embedded in the design,construction,commissioning and operations to achieve subsea asset integrity for sustained steady state production to maximize project value. In particular,
  • Drive implementation and maintenance of the subsea systems aspects of the asset reference plan.
  • Responsible for thermal/hydraulic performance monitoring of subsea systems e.g. monitoring of subsea trees,flowlines,umbilicals,pressure,temperatures,flow rates and pressure differentials,defining data collection and monitoring points.
  • Responsible for providing guidance in performing complex diagnostics/troubleshooting of subsea system behaviours (failures/events) with Operations.
  • Responsible for subsea system mechanical integrity monitoring (Choke Wear,Valve leakage diagnostics,flowlines,umbilical and tree integrity),including for providing feedback to subsea hardware team on hardware design operating experience.
  • Work with Operations and Projects in root cause failure analysis efforts for critical subsea systems.
  • Responsible for contractors (OEM) equipment performance monitoring including review and commenting on technical documentation produced by contractors e.g. technical reports,specification procedures and drawings.
  • Support Operations with regulatory issues pertaining to subsea producing assets such as HSSE Case,statutory compliance requests,waivers,etc.
  • Work with Subsea Intervention Team in the development of work programs for subsea systems corrective maintenance including Rigless Intervention System
  • Support Subsea Project Teams in the engineering,design,manufacturing,testing and installation of subsea hardware e.g. trees,manifold,flowlines,umbilicals and tie-ins.
  • Responsible for population of the Subsea System Failures Database
  • Champion analyzing mean time between failures for Subsea equipment to optimize maintenance planning.
  • Mentor junior surveillance engineers
Requirements
  • This position requires a well motivated and energetic engineer who must be exhibit “Enterprise First” behaviour .
  • A technical background in engineering to degree level with around 10 years experience within EP deepwater (subsea) business covering both project and operational roles.
  • The ability to manage change in a multi-cultural environment is also required.
  • Ability to deal with multiple, often conflicting, goals and priorities
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in driving change.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – able to influence and develop relationships across disciplines and culture, be comfortable coaching and motivating others, and delivering through others.
  • Familiar with project development challenges in Nigeria or in other regions with similar challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Skilful at leading through influence.
