Nigeria Context
Nigeria is the 2nd largest economy in Africa. With the largest population in Africa, a growing middle class and a large number of drinking-age consumers, it has the second largest beer market in Africa The beer market in Nigeria is a vibrant one, making up about 96% of all alcohol sales. The average per capita beer consumption is still only 10 litres a year, a sixth of the rate in South Africa (the largest economy in Africa), meaning the potential for growth remains huge, especially given that Nigeria has a population of about 170m people.

Spirits and wine is forecast to grow quite fast, not yet being mature in the Nigerian market. The expected increase in demand is attributed to the fact that Nigeria’s large population continues to grow, thereby providing an ever increasing consumer base.
The outlook for soft drinks in Nigeria is favourable, as rising disposable incomes and population growth will continue to underpin the positive development of the entire market, while new launches, marketing activities and improvements in distribution will also bolster demand in individual categories

Guinness Nigeria operates a Total Beverage Business (TBB). A key contributor to the success of the GNPLC strategic plan is an effective & flexible field sales force demonstrating industry leadership in both volume driving & brand building activity

Purpose of Role:
To support GNPLC’s business objectives through the effective management of designated sales territory with a focus on low value outlets including implementation of all sales activities/programmes in the retail sales territory and activation of Basic sales drivers (price compliance, distribution, basic visibility)

Top Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for the account management and activation of low value outlets and hypermarkets
  • Listing of innovations and ability to pre-sell
  • Ensure achievement of Basic sales drivers (price compliance, distribution, basic visibility) for Territory
  • Ensures sales out of distributors/market share growth are achieved via monitoring the RRS scheme, excellent execution of promotions. Ensures promotional activity is in the right outlets and well managed. Has to keep and update a database of outlets within the territory.
  • Ensure effective customer/ business development to counter competitive activities in these outlets
Qualifications and Experience Required:
  • Graduate with minimum 1 year commercial expertise gained across Sales / Consumer Marketing or Sales Management. Entry level route for graduate trainees into the sales function.
  • Direct experience of Diageo Way of selling capabilities with a focus on Sales Driver execution at the point of purchase (QDVPPP) Quality, Distribution, Visibility, Price, Promotion and Persuasion, Outlet Segmentation and Managing Relationships including structured call, persuasive selling and brand passion.
  • Strong experience of the application of Health & Safety and Quality systems.
  • Good communication skills –written and verbal
  • Good IT skills
  • High degree of integrity
  • Good inter personal skills
  • Geographically mobile.
  • Healthy and physically fit.
  • Experienced driver with valid license

  • Essential to spend time in the Field with customers and consumers-essential to stay in touch with the market and the competition
  • Unwillingness to flex schedule to align with business hours of retailers and distributors.

Job Title: Statutory Accounts Manager

Purpose:
The Statutory Accounts Manager is primarily responsible for the preparation of statutory financial statements in line with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); ensures business compliance with changes in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and financial reporting regulations in Nigeria as well as ensuring that reporting activities are carried out at world standard level.

Key Accountabilities 
  • Preparation of monthly statutory financial statements based on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and regulatory requirements in Nigeria.
  • Stay current with statutory rules and regulations in Nigeria and determine the impact changes to the rules and regulations have on Guinness Nigeria’s business.
  • Preparation of all aspects of quarterly and annual financial statements including all supporting schedules.
  • Provide support to the interim and annual financial audits.
  • Provision of financial analysis to support external reporting IFRS.
  • Understanding of and application of IFRS accounting.
  • Ensure Controls around Record to Report (RTR) meets a minimum of ‘satisfactory’ CARM rating
 
Skills, Qualifications & Experience Required
  • Graduate Calibre. Professional qualification (ACA/ACCA) is mandatory
  • Minimum of 7 years post qualification experience in Financial Accounting with proven integrity.
  • Ability to take commercial insights and translate into the Organisation & People Agenda including good customer service.
  • Proven ability to facilitate, persuade, influence and build credibility with all levels and all functions.
  • Analytical, interpretative and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent coaching and relationship building skills.
  • Good communication and presentation skill.
  • Good team player with good coaching skills.
  • Sound IT knowledge in the use of outlook (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge in accounting package- Record To Report (RTR) SAP.

Context/Scope:
The Guinness Nigeria Treasury function carries out a full range of Treasury activities, including funding, investment of funds, FX and interest rate risk management, cash management, risk financing and corporate finance. In addition, Treasury is an advisor for wider business decision-making. The team seeks to add value to the Guinness Nigeria through the design and implementation of appropriate policies, procedures controls, the reduction of volatility, and within policy guidelines, the minimization of funding and other related costs.

Job Description

a.)  Financial
Support the company to achieve its financial objectives through controllable cash target, working capital management, optimization of capital structure and maximisation of return on investment

b.) Market Complexity

The role holder will ensure that the functional/ business agendas in the market are closely aligned. Role has a strong interaction with the Central Treasury team in Budapest and has overall accountability for about 23 banking relationships.

c.)  Leadership and Functional Responsibilities
Role holder leads a team of full time employees and provides leadership on all treasury matters. The role has relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Banks, finance institutions and government authorities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure optimum and adequate funding of business operations at minimal costs
  • Ensure optimisation of capital structure
  • Ensure the delivery of timely and accurate reports including internal forecast updates, group   reporting requirements and annual budgeting exercises.
  • Establish and train best in class cash and working capital forecasting capabilities
  • Manage assets, earnings and liabilities in a cost effective manner
  • Ensure harmonisation of Treasury operations with Diageo's Treasury Policy
  • Build and manage relationship with banking partners in a mutually beneficial manner.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required
  • Graduate calibre, higher educational qualifications (e.g. MBA/M.Sc.) would be an added advantage
  • Relevant professional qualification is essential (ACCA/CPA/ACA/CFA)
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant post graduation experience in a mid/big sized multinational
  • Strong treasury experience in a mid – big sized multinational
  • Good project management skills
  • Good problem solving and decision making ability
  • Strategic thinking and excellent analytical
  • Good interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented, integrity and self-motivated individual

Context/Scope
The role is responsible for the management of A&P spend of approx 25 Billion Naira (GBP£10mn). The role is also involved in the negotiation of cost of 3rd Party Goods & Services suppliers with Procurement.

Key Accountabilities
• Develop and execute ambitious recruitment plans and other brand initiatives for Harp Lager to be the market leader in Lager in Nigeria

• Inspire & develop the brand team and collaboratively support the Customer Marketing team in ensuring full adherence to Diageo Marketing Code and Digital Code of Practice

• Develop the annual Brand Media Plan for conventional & non-conventional media and development of third party strategic partnerships

• Manage the delivery of the Annual Operating Plan through excellent execution of GAME Plans & Activities and through determining the allocation of marketing investment budget into activities

• Create groundbreaking and highly effective communications, through creative and content excellence. Inspire agencies, in-market teams & commercial managers to turn Annual GAME Plans into “executable” commercial plans and assist with the development of growth drivers

• Continually identify and quantify new growth opportunities which drive equity and brand growth for the Lager/RTD Portfolio at both National and Regional level based on real consumer insights.

Qualifications and Experience Required
• University degree in marketing / business or other related discipline preferred though not essential. Postgraduate Qualifications is an added advantage

• 5 to 8 years proven experience in FMCG Brand Management including creative development, implementation and trade marketing

• Strong Project Management Skills

• Ability to work under own initiative / pro-active leadership

• Can demonstrate excellent Commercial judgment & acumen

• Experience of working on National Activation platforms & understanding Execution standards required for the demanding consumer

• Ability to manage key stakeholders nationally & internationally

• Budget & cost control management
